A one week workshop intensive at the Penumbra Foundation in Manhattan.

October 12 – 18, 2014 (*October 12 – 20 optional)

Join us for a week-long exploration of three of the most beautiful antique photographic techniques at the premier facility for alternative processes in Manhattan, the Penumbra Foundation.  In the course of a week, you will learn the art of the Albumen, Multi-colored Gum-bichromate and Carbon printing.  These workshops are designed to teach the 19th century methods with hands-on experience and addressing practical considerations when working with each medium, such as paper choice, coating techniques and printing.  Time for shooting will also be available, and, for those staying after the workshops, a private viewing of rare and precious photographs in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

Organized by Jennifer Stoots, this one week intensive photographic workshop-based trip has been made possible by the joint efforts of the Penumbra Foundation, the Los Angeles Center for Photography and photographic consultant Sherrie Berger.
